An effluent treatment plant (ETP) treats wastewater from various sources to remove contaminants and pollutants before it's released into the environment or reused. The goal of an ETP is to produce a safe fluid waste stream and solid waste that can be disposed of or reused.
ETPs use physical, chemical, and biological processes to treat wastewater from industries such as chemicals, drugs, pharmaceuticals, refineries, dairy, ready mix plants, and textiles.
Some components of an ETP include:
- Storage tank: Collects and stores raw effluent from different parts of the factory
- Equalization tank: Equalizes the raw effluent from different processing units
- Filter tank: Uses sand and pebbles to filter dust and solids from the waste water.
